Could You Recommend a Few Books?

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

One of the most common questions we'll get here at Reach And Teach is "Can you recommend a book about....." We love those questions! Earlier this week, someone reached out via email to share this request.

"Could you recommend some good books for pre-schoolers to help them deal with trauma / grief / big feelings? Especially if you have something about a kid with an incarcerated parent or parents who had to leave the child to be raised by a different family member? Or kids in foster care? All the books seem to show kids with happy perfect families and my little guys don't see themselves in those characters. I think it makes them sad / uncomfortable. Also for a child who has a parent with depression."

I went through the books in our shop, ones we have now and ones we've carried in the past, read some good online lists, and compiled the following suggestions. I would LOVE it if you would share your ideas for books I should add.
