As we reach the end of 2009 we're so grateful for all the people who have made Reach And Teach part of their lives and have helped transform the world through teachable moments.

Each year, Reach And Teach donates a portion of our revenues as well as products to local, national, and international organizations doing great work nearby and around the world. We'd like to introduce you to some of those organizations and say thank you for helping us help them. We encourage you to also check them out and consider supporting them directly as well! Beneath each organization name we've copied information from the organization's web site so that you'll know a bit about them.

Global Exchange

As an education and action resource center, we advance our vision by working to ensure our members and constituents are empowered locally and connected globally to create a just and sustainable world.

Global Exchange takes a holistic approach to creating change. With 20 years working for international human rights, we realize that in order to advance social, environmental and economic justice we must transform the global economy from profit centered to people centered, from currency to community.

Youth Community Service

Youth Programs at YCS

YCS programs engage youth in community service activities that promote increased awareness of the needs of their communities and the development of individual community service self-efficacy, and positive emotional and behavioral health. We actively collaborate with a number of K-12 educators and community-based organizations in northern Santa Clara and southern San Mateo Counties.

For more information about our Youth Programs, visit YCS Programs for Youth.

Service Learning at YCS

As a California Department of Education Service Learning Regional Lead, YCS offers training for educators and community-based organizations on the methods for developing and implementing high quality service learning programs. YCS also provides ongoing technical assistance to K-18 service learning practitioners in San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Benito, Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.

Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training (GIFT)

The Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training (GIFT) is a multiracial organization that promotes the connection between fundraising, social justice and movement-building. We believe that how groups are funded is as important to achieving their goals as how the money is spent, and that building community support is central to long-term social change. We provide training, resources and analysis to strengthen organizations, with an emphasis on those focused on social justice and based in communities of color.

More Light Presbyterians

A network of people seeking the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people of faith in the life, ministry and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

We print articles on social theory, religion/spirituality, social change, contemporary American and global politics and economics, ecology, culture, psychology, and Israel/Palestine. What we look for in such pieces are perspectives that interrogate the politics of their subject matter in ways which both advance the pursuit of tikkun olam - social justice and the repair of the world - and break down issues of contemporary concern in completely new and thoughtful ways. We support a progressive spirituality, but we welcome ideas that challenge established orthodoxies in all spheres of thought and all conceptions of politics, including challenging progressive politics.

We also challenge "common sense" and every form of "being realistic" and welcome the most utopian ideas and the uncovering and challenging aspects of  thought, culture, or social organization that have convinced people that our world cannot be reconstructed on the basis of love, generosity,non-violence, social justice, caring for Nature, and awe and wonder at the grandeur of the universe.  We're not likely to print articles about your travel to some important part of the world, your experience of having your child or your family enter into a particular religious experience, or your own personal path to spiritual enlightenment or religious practice. Nor are we a magazine of facts that "covers what is happening" in some particular area of the world or of politics. What we seek are creative new perspectives on the facts that help us deepen our understanding or contribute to strategies of healing and transformation (which is what the word "tikkun" means).

Reach And Teach 10/10 Program:

In addition to cash contributions, pro-bono services, and in-kind donations (products), we also help non-profit organizations raise money and increase awareness by facilitating the sale of products for those organizations. Our 10/10 program makes it east and very cost-effective for our partners in peacemaking to offer products to their supporters. We handle inventory, fulfillment, and book-keeping for just 10% of the purchase price of each product, plus we give 10% of any other purchases during that transaction. Thus the 10/10.
