Focus 1-2-3 formalizes familiar processes that use movement and quiet moments to focus students in early childhood, primary, secondary, special, home and adult education – a toolkit to add to teachers’ repertoire of brain compatible learning and Response to Intervention resources for ADD, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, etc.
Users do not need to attend a workshop in order to use or spend hours reading a manual to understand it. It is not a curriculum.
Children enjoy Focus 1-2-3 because they get to move and feel better in their bodies. Teenagers and adults apply Focus 1-2-3 tools in their personal life outside of school to wake up to study, gear up to focus or calm down to sleep.
About the Creator:
Ruth Beauchamp founded Oranda after nearly 10 years of classroom teaching and more than 10 additional years of teaching future teachers. Over the course of her career, she has visited thousands of classrooms where she experienced stressed-out teachers and students, disengaged students, and discouraged teachers.
Beauchamp was compelled to synthesize what she had learned from her 20 plus years in education along with her interests in mindfulness, active learning, neuroscience and occupational therapy. In 2010, she created recessitate as a resource for teachers and students to positively engage, connect and grow with each other. In one year, recessitate made its way into five continents. In 2015, recessitate was rebranded, repackaged and refreshed as Focus 1-2-3. An app arrived this same year to bring the same great activities to 'smart' technology.
