We’ll never forget the moment Molly stepped through our door, put her hands on her hips, and declared “My name is Molly! What is this place?” Molly O’s Irish Pub and Restaurant had just opened a few doors down and this was THE Molly, after whom the place was named. In her 80’s and full of energy and love Molly has become a regular visitor to our shop and we to her namesake restaurant (great food and people by the way). Our answer to Molly’s question was we are a book, toy and gift shop, followed by our usual elevator pitch. Right now we want to celebrate the “book” part. We are an independent bookstore, an “Indie” which isn’t part of some huge chain or corporation like they who shall not be named. Indie bookstores are, in many places, part of the heart and soul of the community and we proudly stand in that tradition!
This week we join with 1,000 other bookstores to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day, a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April. Every store is unique and independent, and every party is different. We’ll have homemade chocolate chip cookies using our favorite fair trade chocolate and every book in the shop will be 10% off (just say “Happy Independent Bookstores Day” at the front door)! Plus our online audiobook shop https://libro.fm/reachandteach is offering fantastic prices on special titles all week through Saturday April 27th. AND, on Saturday, we’ll have a Golden Ticket hidden somewhere in our shop. If you find it you will win 12 FREE book credits, that’s one audiobook a month for FREE.
We’re thrilled to join other local bookshops around the corner and around the country to celebrate all the indies and, most importantly, all of the indie shoppers who support us. We’re so grateful to all of you!
